Well, since time doesn't stand still (and remembering that Tom Waits for no one), it is with a heavy heart that we must draw Mario Bava month to a close. But what a close it is! Today we're on about his 1960 Gothic horror masterpiece, Black Sunday (known elsewhere as The Mask of Satan or The Mask of the Devil). It's about vampire witches and devil worship. So that's nice. Kyle is nearing the end of his tether this week and says things that even he can't understand. Lincoln is going to get to work on more TV shows. Lucky sod. They also discuss the new trailers for World War Z (or, more appropriately, human-ant-lemmings) and Marvel's The Wolverine. And if you want a potted history of film censorship, then this is your episode.

This week's film has more titles than any other movie in history. On Netflix, it's called Bay of Blood, but we prefer to call it Twitch of the Death Nerve. How evocative! It's one of horror cinema's most influential films. And it's a Mario Bava movie, in case you hadn't guessed. Elsewhere this week, Kyle had kidney stones but then saw a Clippers' game so that makes up for it. Lincoln saw a stage musical called Once which he just will not be quiet about. They also discuss new trailers and argue over the correct pronunciation of the name "Guillermo." Next week, we finish Mario Bava Month with a veritable classic: Danger Diabolik!... Just kidding, it's a better one than that.

More Mario Bava!! This week, the gothic horror film Operazione Paura, known to most English speakers as Kill, Baby, Kill. Title doesn't really mean anything, but there you have it. Also discussed are trips to screenings, the majesty of Sam Elliot, lessons in Manhattan geography, injuries accrued while running, and the way in which mist tells people to leave town. Italian horror cinema is our new forte...

Ha HA! The surprise went swimmingly! Lincoln and Kyle are joined by Lincoln's girlfriend (now fiance!!!) Rachel to discuss their recent trip to London. It was pretty great. The movie this week is an anti-drug PSA masquerading as a horror movie called Blue Sunshine. It features characters behaving in really eratic and unbelievable ways, and also has some people who are affected by LSD. Also discussed are the need for bad guys, the inherent evil of baldness, softcore pornography, and jet lag. Love you; proud of you.

Not every movie can make the fellas excited, either about how much they enjoyed it or how much they despised its very existence. Sometimes, the movie just exists. But hey, at least it has Sean Bean with a sword. The fellas also each watched a sexually deviant movie and they talk about the cinematic badassery of Jeremy Renner. You could do a lot worse, and the boys certainly have.

This week, Kyle and Lincoln are thrilled beyond measure to be joined with an honest to goodness Englishman. Paul Heath from the wonderful Pharos Project Podcast joins the fellas to discuss an early 70s British horror film called Raw Meat which stars Donald Pleasance and a mangled weirdo who lives in the Underground. Topics include bad English accents, the majesty of Christopher Lee, actory business, and the differences and similarities between London, New York, and LA. Paul and Lincoln also team up to rightfully make fun of Kyle for being "too film school" and for not understanding how trains work. Listen to more of Paul on his wonderful show The Pharos Project.

This week, the podcast gets all intellectual when Battleship Pretension's own Tyler Smith is our guest to discuss the 1989 "horror-comedy" Parents directed by Bob Balaban. The fellas delve into topics such as fucked up kids, the drawbacks to taking lithium before acting, aping David Lynch, and whether or not cannibalism is boring. Hope you enjoy; it's a good'n!

In our mid-life crisis episode, Kyle talks about the shitburger "11-11-11", Kyle wants to watch Jake West's doc about Video Nasties, we argue about "ineffective" and "ineffectual", discuss the mystique of Devon Sawa, learn about a sugary bag of bread, sing the theme to Smokey and the Bandit, and Kyle proves a trolling bitch wrong! Oh, and we talked about "Doghouse". We may or may not have another guest next week (looks like yes). Follow our various writings and musings this week! We love you very much!
